Free the Kotel for the Second Time
Type: Lecture & Discussion
Date: Mar 9
Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Age Range: 11-14; 14+

Temple Beth El invites the community to join the congregation as Rabbi Gil Nativ talks about "The Struggle for Separation of Synagogue and State in Israel Today." The Kotel is the Western Wall of the Temple of Jerusalem. It is now the center of the controversy over the ability of women to pray there. Rabbi Gil Nativ, a third-generation Israeli, will be in Springfield to teach us about life as a Conservative Jew in Israel and the issues of religious pluralism in Israel. Rabbi Nativ was a paratrooper in the Israel Defense Forces and participated in the liberation of the Western Wall in 1967. He is the rabbi of Magen Avraham Congregation in Omer, Israel. For more information, please call the temple office at (413)733-4149.
